It was the blasters turn to give an offering to The Great God Murphy! Their compressor broke, so they brought up a new bigger one. This one increased the pressure of air running their little drill. However, there is a limit as to how much air can go thru it to cool it. That meant the drill was running way too fast to be cooled and it melted the bit:
As you can see, these compressors are not simple things. The air pressure had to be brought down to about what the old one put out at its maximum capacity and then with a new bit drilling holes for the pool shot could continue.
